Founded in 2022, the young Frankfurt-based Fabrik Quartet is quickly making a name for itself at festivals with its ‘committed, fresh and bold interpretation’. The programme for ECLAT showcases the aesthetic breadth with which the four musicians are curious and searching. Bahar Royaee experiences a distant memory like an ever-changing image of a stone under the surface of the water and attempts to capture it musically. With physical sounds and almost raw energy, Zihan Wu traces a ‘journey of transformation and rebirth’. Kathrin Denner creates an ‘ephemeral yet intense sound space’ through an interplay between resonance and silence and subtle expansions of the instrumental spectrum. Johannes Brahms’ 2nd String Quartet inspired Sebastian Claren for his work, from which a dark, »somewhat claustrophobic mood« emerges behind the highest virtuosity and at the same time fragility.
