The composer, conductor and flautist Angus Lee comes from Hong Kong, where he still lives and works today. He studied at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts and at the Royal Academy of Music London. As a conductor, Angus Lee’s main interest lies in the performance of contemporary music. Together with the Hong Kong New Music Ensemble and as co-founder of the PRISM Chamber Music Festival, Lee has performed works by Franck Bedrossian, Guillaume Connesson, Nico Muhly and Steve Reich, among others.

Since 2016, Angus Lee has participated in composition academies and completed composition studies with Oscar Bianchi, Frédéric Durieux, Philippe Manoury, Isabel Mundry, Johannes Maria Staud and Nicolas Tzortzis, among others, and attended master classes with Mark Andre, Luca Francesconi, Toshio Hosokawa and Simon Steen-Andersen, among others. His works have been performed by Ensemble Intercontemporain, Ensemble Modern, Ensemble Suono Giallo, HearNowHear (US), Hong Kong New Music Ensemble and Trio Accanto, among others, and have been presented at festivals such as the ACL Asian Music Festival, Festival Musica Strasbourg, ilSUONO Contemporary Music Week, IRCAM ManiFeste, Seoul International Computer Music Festival and Ticino Musica Festival.
