Christof M Löser
Christof M Löser (*1972 in Leonberg), conductor, music theorist, organiser. Lecturer in ensemble conducting/practice/interpretation of new music and music theory (since 2000), director of echtzeitEnsemble and, since 2013, of the STUDIO NEUE MUSIK at the Stuttgart State University of Music and Performing Arts. Initiator and 2014–2023 artistic director of the Landesjugendensemble Neue Musik Baden-Württemberg [LJE], founded in 2014. Initiator, director and conductor of the initiative for new music SUONO MOBILE since 1995.
Studied in Freiburg: school music, music theory, piano (including James Avery), German studies, musicology; 9 years of seminars with Mathias Spahlinger. Studied conducting with Wolf-Dieter Hauschild in Karlsruhe. Studies with Peter Eötvös and Zsolt Nagy. 1996–2001 Lecturer in music theory at the Freiburg University of Music. 2008–12 Director of the Ensemble Neue Musik at the Franz Liszt University of Music Weimar.
Conducted numerous ensembles and orchestras in Europe and South America, including Filarmónica de Montevideo, Montevideo Radio Orchestra [SODRE], Orquesta Filarmónica de Córdoba (Argentina), OrchestraFilarmonicaMarchigiana, Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra, Ensembles Aventure, Decoder, Laboratorium, Musikfabrik, oh ton, recherche, Stockhausen-Kurse Kürten, ensamble SUONO MOBILE argentina etc.. Numerous projects for the mediation of new music. Founding member of the Netzwerk Neue Musik Baden-Württemberg. Co-initiator of the Stuttgart collective for contemporary music SKAM, founded in 2014.
Project focus on conceptual interpretation and experimental thematisation of the role of interpreter and conductor as well as initiation of new compositions for solo conductor or with conceptually designed conducting, among others in collaboration with Michael Maierhof, Luxa Mart*in Schüttler, Yiran Zhao, Philipp Krebs, Ui-Kyung Lee, Nicolaus A. Huber and Arezou Rezaei.
