Was noch. is a topographical portrait. It is influenced by Jürgen Becker’s prose trilogy Felder/Ränder/Umgebungen. Three of the 101 loose Felder text units are read aloud in the piece in partly abridged text versions. Was noch. are 87 stations within five text/music fields. In the fields, text and music influence, disturb or disregard each other. Was noch. deals with different dimensions of musical space and their multi-layered interrelations (the architectural space in which a musical performance takes place, the individual listening space in which thoughts and ideas are connected, the space composed into a piece, etc.). Was noch. are different vocal formations from a collective to an individual sound, from a homogeneous 24-voice ensemble to vocal groups of 2, 3 or 7. Was noch. are strictly defined sequences and rigidly reduced events. Prime numbers play an important role in the chosen compositional procedures, i.e. the group of numbers in which no pattern formation is recognizable but a structured infinity can be sensed. Was noch. is the attempt to determine a place.

Michael Reudenbach

Michael Reudenbach (*1956 in Aachen) is active both as a composer and in the field of early music. After training with Deutsche Bahn and other career detours, he studied composition with Joachim Blume and Dennis Cohen as well as music theory with Dieter Gostomsky. He was a fellow of the Akademie Schloss Solitude Stuttgart, the Cité Internationale des Arts Paris and the Heinrich Strobel Foundation of the SWR. In 2005 he was a guest lecturer for composition at the Stuttgart Summer Academy Schloss Solitude and in 2006 at the Darmstadt Summer Course. From 2012–2015, he held deputy professorships for composition at the Dresden and Stuttgart conservatories, and from 2016 to 2022 he taught at the HfMDK Frankfurt a.M. as Professor of Composition and Music Theory.
