In »Wasting my Grammar: Prisonniers des mots d’autrui«, four characters convene at the Antechamber of the Prison of Language, where they set forth on a quest for »le mot juste«, the perfect word that they suspect to be withheld within the verbal prison. Within the confines of this setting, they launch different theories on language–is it music, can we master it, or are we just the prisoners of others’ words as Barthes says? While debating, the characters embark on sequences of tongue twisting permutations and speedy verbal acrobatics based on Cia’s poetry from the volumes notes for soloists, l’usage du mot as well as her forthcoming work Wasting my Grammar.

Cia Rinne

Cia Rinne (*1973 in Gothenburg) is a writer, poet and artist based in Berlin. She works with minimalist translingual texts that play with the double senses and paradoxes of language, often taking shape as exhibitions, sound and video works. Cia is the author of four volumes of poetry, documentary books as well as libretti for musical works by a.o. Sofia Jernberg, Henrik Strindberg, and Cecilia Damström, largely inspired by philosophy and Greek mythology. Her work is shown internationally, solo shows a.o. at INCA Seattle, die raum Berlin, and Marabouparken konsthall Stockholm. Cia’s œuvre was awarded with the Prix littéraire Bernard Heidsieck-Centre Pompidou.
